DR. LYNN ATKINS
Lynn G. Atkins, Jr. became the second artistic director of One Voice Chorus in April 2013. Since that time, he has led the 100-member chorus and 35-member ensemble in season concerts and special events in the Central Virginia area. He has been praised for the originality and the diverse nature of his ambitious concert planning for the volunteer organization, which has included collaborations with the Richmond Symphony and Petersburg Symphony, among others. In addition to his work with OVC, Dr. Atkins is the Director of Choral Music at Falling Creek Middle School in Chesterfield, VA; as well as the artistic director of the James River Ringers Handbell Ensemble and sings professionally as the Tenor Section Leader at Bruton Parish Church in Colonial Williamsburg, VA. He maintains a busy schedule as conductor and recitalist on the East Coast. Lynn has been honored to serve as an Adjudicator as well as Guest Conductor for honor choirs at the county and division levels in Virginia. Lynn obtained a BM in Music Education from Westminster Choir College of Rider University in 2004, and is the first student to obtain the dual MM/DMA in Choral Conducting from James Madison University in 2012.
