Brian Schatz
Brian Schatz is a busy freelance musician and music teacher in the NY Metropolitan area. He graduated from Hofstra University with a degree in music education and went on to UM’s Frost School of Music where he studied with some of the world’s best known teachers, and graduated with a masters in multiple woodwind performance with a concentration in clarinet, saxophone, and flute.
His skills as a multi-instrumentalist have given Brian access to a very diverse field of performances, and he has performed on and off Broadway, at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, B.B. King’s, and with many other groups throughout the tri-state area. As an arranger of music, Brian has had his arrangements performed at the elementary through the professional level, arranging music for groups such as chamber groups at the University of Miami, the New York Philharmonic’s Very Young People’s concerts, and even for the “viola mom” TikTok series. During the pandemic Brian performed with Adam Grannick’s “Socially Distant Orchestra” on a variety of instruments, and was inspired to create virtual orchestra videos of his own. Brian now runs a successful business creating these videos for professional and school groups across the United States. Currently, besides freelancing, Brian is the in-house reed player at the Argyle Theater in Babylon, Long Island, and he teaches instrumental music at the Baylis School in Syosset, NY. Brian has been playing in Litha Symphony’s clarinet section since 2015. |
