Litha Symphony Orchestra
Presents:
Our 2019 Summer Season
Eric Hayslett, Executive Artistic Director & Conductor
This season, Litha Symphony Orchestra—along with special guests and the Litha Symphony Chorus—will delve into the realm of Music of the Night. Each one of our concerts will feature pieces that were inspired by or remind us of the night.
We begin our journey through nightmarish and ghoulish selections that will evoke the darkness of night. Nightmares will feature selections by prominent French composers: Berlioz, Dukas, and Saint-Saëns. Litha then takes our listeners on a romantic evening with music that reminisces of date night excursions. Whether it be a fiesta in Mexico, a nighttime stroll through a Spanish garden, a Cuban salsa club, or a western hoedown, Date Night will put a little romance in the air. Finally, LSO explores Mahler’s take on the song—or rather “songs”—of the night journeying from dusk to dawn in his intense Symphony No. 7. Posthumously titled “Song of the Night,” this concert will surely be a grand finale to our season! |
